As we count our blessings this holiday season, one is uniquely American - the opportunity to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. For ill and injured warriors who are in various stages of recovery, rehabilitation and the transition to civilian life, the word “home” takes on an entirely new meaning.
Eight years after the grand opening of Freedom Station, our transitional housing residence, dozens of service members have proven that this loving home is a place to heal, learn new skills, and position themselves for fulfilling new journeys outside the service. To meet the ongoing need, we purchased a second housing residence in San Diego; the nine-unit property has been named Freedom Station II, a nod to its predecessor and the continuing mission to help San Diego’s warriors successfully transition from military service to civilian life.
Freedom Station II features eight one-bedroom cottages and a two-bedroom unit. With an anticipated grand opening in early 2020, each cottage will require furnishings, including a bed, bedroom furniture, dining table and chairs, coffee table, desk, and household essentials such as vacuums and ironing boards. The estimated cost to furnish each Freedom Station cottage is approximately $3500.
Warrior Foundation Freedom Station invites you to show your gratitude for our nation’s troops by making a donation on #GivingTuesday. On this global day of giving, our goal is to have 400 people open their hearts and donate at least $50, so we can raise $20,000 to help furnish Freedom Station II – our newest “home of the brave.”
#GivingTuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season. #GivingTuesday was started as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday)

The holidays are a special time to reflect on everything we are grateful for.
