A Celebration of Student Achievement

At “Cap & Gown” we will be celebrating our students’ accomplishments, and recognizing the Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr., recipient of our 2015 First in Family Award, presented that evening.

Honorable Willie Brown, a two-term Mayor of San Francisco, served in the California State Assembly for 30 years and is the longest-serving Speaker of that body. He is a first generation college graduate. Mayor Brown’s long and successful career is an inspiration to our students.

At First Graduate, our mission is to help students be the first in their family to graduate college.   We commit to our students for 10 years—from seventh grade through college graduation leading to meaningful employment. Our unique program includes year-roundcoaching, academic enrichment, family guidance, career preparation and access to college scholarships. We currently serve 361 students, and have an ambitious goal of helping 2,000 students in the next five to seven years.
