READY, SET, CONNECT!, a partnership with the Oakland Public Library, is a win-win-win situation:
Through one-on-one mentoring, participating young people discover the professional skills necessary for technology-focused careers. Oakland youth between 16 and 24 years old teach local residents computer skills—usually at the library. Workers from local tech companies help, too.
Everybody involved gains new skills and life experience.
That win-win-win situation is helping to disrupt the cycle of poverty and close the digital divide in the Bay Area.
Since 2013 Ready, Set, Connect! has developed 78 youth trainers and helped over 4,000 Oakland residents. But we’re not stopping there.
