The Trips & Tours Department needs a new bus! The current bus is 15-years old, well beyond the normal life span of a vehicle of this type. We've outgrown this 16-passenger bus. Most of our trips sell out and many have a waiting list.
Recently, we began experiencing some mechanical issues with the 16-passenger vehicle. We spent time and considerable resources to ensure it is now functioning well for our trips; however, we recognize it will need to be replaced soon.
A new 25-passenger bus will allow more seniors to enjoy the trips we offer each month. This will also create more revenue to support other programs of Senior Services for South Sound such as the Senior Nutrition Program, Supportive Services, or the STARS Adult Day Program.
Our new 25-passenger bus will cost about $80,000 to purchase. We would also like to build a maintenance fund of $20,000 to help offset maintenance costs over the vehicle's life span, allowing us to keep trips affordable to Seniors in our area.
