POSSCA

Nathaniel is a 2012 Tumwater High School graduate. He applied for the POSSCA scholarship in both Visual Art and Design (architectural design) and Music - Instrumental Performance (piano). He was awarded a $1,000 POSSCA Visual Art & Design Scholarship. He is currently attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with plans to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, pursue internships, and eventually earn a Master’s degree. On his application for the POSSCA Scholarship, Nathaniel wrote – “I dream of becoming a global architect who designs and constructs buildings with progressive eco-friendly ideas. Through this career, I can serve others by integrating a community’s physical and cultural contexts into the environment to give people a feeling of self-awareness and comfort in their surroundings. In other words, I want to use my architectural education to uphold each community’s unique culture and values. Whether I am designing a family’s dream home or a sustainable complex for thousands, I see architecture as an opportunity to enjoy my passion and benefit others as well.”
